Asad big six against Hazelwood, 1st test Australia 2016

Asad Shafiq has certainly developed himself as one of the finest test batsman for Pakistan. He has certainly played a brilliant innings against the Australians in the second innings of the opening test. Asad is on 68 at this moment and is not out.

In his innings he hit a big six that gathered a lot of applause from the crowd and commentators. This hit came against the pace of Josh Hazelwood. It was a short ball and Asad pulled it over the leg side. The ball hit the bat and went all the way over deep fine leg fir a maximum.Asad Shafiq is the maestro Pakistan team always wanted since names like Inzamam and Yusuf went out of the team. This little man scored a hundred today and this is his first in Australia. It was a mature knock that had everything.

Asad Shafiq has now 9 hundreds at number 6 position in batting. He has taken the seat from the great Sir Garry Sobers. Asad is a class apart and there is no doubt that he is a very skilled and talented batsman. There are reasons that former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene ranks him the very best in Pakistan test batting line. This six from Asad is the only one he has hit in his innings so far. There are a lot of fours in his innings but one six and here the pace of Hazelwood did the job for Asad. It was short full of pace and on the leg side a little bit. Asad was quick to get onto his back foot and hit this one.

The ball hit the top edge of the bat and went flying over the deep fine leg fielder and into the stands the ball hit. It was a stunning shot from the short fellow. Asad may have not hit this one right from the middle but still it served the purpose for him. Asad Shafiq hundred came in the last over of the day. He punched the ball on the off side through point and then he and Wahab scampered for three runs. Shafiq was on 97 when he hit this shot. The ball was fielded right at the boundary line. This gave Asad and Wahab a chance to run three runs. Gabba is a big ground as a result you can hit the ball in the deep and scamper for three to four runs easily. He is still at the crease and Pakistan needs 108 more runs to win.
