Faulkner takes on Ishant Sharma

The problem with Indian pace bowling is that they lack express pace. The last genuine pace bowler they had was Zaheer Khan. Indian mostly produced medium pacers. Now in international cricket there is always a chance of medium pacers getting a lot of runs in a match. This is mostly happening to India all the time. But at the same time the Indian batting line is very strong. They manage to chase huge totals made against them just because of the depth and strength in their batting.

Here is a prime example of how Indian medium pacers went for uns. This is an over Ishant Sharma bowled to Australian all-rounder James Faulkner. The Australian gathered 30 runs from this over. It was a crucial stage of the game and because of this over India lost the match.

Ishant bowled the first ball outside the off stump. It was in the zone for Faulkner. He smashed it over the covers and got his first boundary of the over. The second ball was a short one but there was no pace behind the ball.Faulkner this time hit this one into the stands on the leg side. He was all ready to take on this ball. This was a baseball shot. The ball bit the middle of the bat and then there was no stopping it from landing into the crowd.

The next ball was pitched up to Faulkner by Ishant. The bowler thought that the chance in line and length might help him. But it did not. He hit the ball straight this time. This was another mega hit. Ishant then got a few more boundaries including a six over deep backward square leg. This one over swung the match in the favor of the Australians.
