Southee brilliant 55 against India, 1st ODI 2016

The first half of the opening one-dayer between India and New Zealand belongs to the hosts. New Zealand is all out at 190 runs here at Dharamsala. The Indian bowling was superb especially the pace bowlers. Pandya picked up three wickets.

H Pandya is making his ODI debut. He bowled really well. He and Yadav both took 5 wickets right at the top. At that point, New Zealand was fumbling and even 100 runs were looking beyond their reach. Indian bowling and fielding were superb.

Leg-spinner Mishra also took three wickets in the match. He bowled superbly as well. For New Zealand, Latham hit a strong 79 right at the top. The second best innings was from the bat of pace bowler Southee. He hit 55 runs.

Southee is now the first Kiwi player who have scored a fifty in ODI cricket batting at number 10. His innings saved New Zealand from a compel humiliation. He and Latham hit a decent partnership and helped their side to get to 190.Now this total here is not a strong one but at least New Zealand now has something to fight with. Their job is now to take wickets at the quick basis. One partnership from the Indian bench and New Zealand is out of this match.

Southee did a great job with the bat. He took the attack back at the Indian bowling up. He played attacking cricket. He made sure that he hit the ball cleanly. Southee hit three sixes and six fours in his innings. His batting showed his teammates how they should have batted on this track. This is not a good batting performance from the visitors. They were down and out. This was not a track that should have troubled them like this. New Zealand batters played poor shots and paid the ultimate price for it.
