Azhar Ali out first ball, West Indies, 1st ODI 2016

West Indies wins the first toss here at Sharjah and they are fielding first. This is an unusual move from the West Indian captain Jason Holder. Possibly he has decided to chase because of the dew factor. But at the same time does anyone remember any dew factor giving problems on this wickets.

But let’s just talk about the first wicket here. What a ball from the right arm fasts bowler Gabriel. This was the best one could get while facing his first ball. Gabriel hit the seam on the ground and moved the ball just a little away from Azhar.

The slight movement was enough to catch the Edge of the bat and Azhar could not do much about it. He was trying to defend the ball but the movement caught the edge of the bat. This is a nightmare ball for any batsman, especially for an opener.

Azhar Ali walks out of the park. Babar Azam comes in. this is not a good start from the Pakistan team. Azhar Ali is already under pressure and this will sink him more in the deep waters. His captaincy is on the line in this series.Already he has lost his place in his PSL franchise as the head of the team. Lahore Qalandars sacked him as the captain and made Brandon McCullum the new leader. This move came out of nowhere and Azhar did not respond to it.

There was no suitable answer from him. We all know he would have been short of answers had he been asked about them. He is not performing well enough. He is out of form as a captain. His own performances as a batter are not bad but as a captain, he has failed to produce results. Pakistan has lost most of the game under his captaincy.
